Privacy Policy

Background:

The Northern Area Health Education Center, Inc. (NAHEC), a non-profit organization, licenses and maintains the website www.myhealthcareer.org, hereinafter referred to as My Health Career®, for the purpose of increasing awareness of and access to health occupations as part of its mission to increase the quantity and quality of healthcare professionals in underserved regions.

Attention Parents:

My Health Career® does not collect personal identifying data such as: name, telephone number, or mailing address, from children under the age of 13.

My Health Career® does collect the name of the school currently attended for users under the age of 13. This data is used to analyze and predict general trends in healthcare workforce development by geographic region. School data for users under the age of 13 is used in aggregate only and cannot be tied to any form of personal identification (i.e. name, mailing address, telephone number, or e-mail address) as this information is not collected from users under 13 years of age.

My Health Career® users who are 13 years of age and older should be aware:

The following information is actively gathered: full name, mailing address, telephone number, and e-mail address. This information is used internally for the purposes of providing information to users on available programs and opportunities to explore health careers in greater depth and context.

NAHEC and its licensees further actively and passively collect data on interests with regard to career exploration, including voluntarily submitted information in the user journal, as well as occupation ratings and information entered into the resume building feature. Individually, this information may be used to help users’ monitor progress and achieve goals. Anonymous aggregate data is used to identify emerging patterns of supply in healthcare workforce development. Individual user information is not and will not be shared with third parties unless permission is granted in advance by the user. Instances in which individuals may wish to grant permission to release information include, but are not limited to: resume matching to pursue employment opportunities, educational or professional development assignments completed using the website, or to comply with employer directives. In such cases, users will be provided with a screen requesting permission to authorize the release of information and/or access to view user account activity by an Account Manager.

Anonymous aggregate data may be queried by NAHEC partners in education, employment, government, economic and community development, etc. for the purpose of analyzing and addressing overall trends in workforce development.

Information collected through forms may be used to send the user information on available job openings, training programs, etc. This information is not and will not be shared with third parties unless permission is granted by the user.

Information with regard to funding eligibility is used internally for the purpose of determining if users meet the criteria for specific grant funded programs. This information is not and will not be shared with third parties.

My Health Career® users who enter the Recruitment Zone section of the site should be aware the site actively collects data on items of interest identified during the session (for ex: pages visited). Individual user information so identified is not and will not be shared with third parties. Anonymous aggregate data so collected may be shared with NAHEC partners in education, employment, government, etc. for the purpose of analyzing and addressing overall trends in healthcare workforce development. In addition, Recruitment Zones may provide links to third-party web sites. When you leave My Health Career®, you become subject to the privacy policy of the third party website. You are responsible for reviewing the privacy policies of any third-party sites with which you link.

My Health Career® users who establish a user account for the KeyTrain® skill assessment and/or the Health Stream continuing education systems should be aware of the following: the site collects data on each user session including the assessments and/or courses taken, grades achieved, time spent, and number of attempts at course completion. This information is used to monitor individual progress and will not be released to third parties.

My Health Career® further collects the IP address of the computer used to access the site as well as the address of the referring site.

Cookies:

A “cookie” is a small text file that a web site can place on your computer’s hard drive to collect information about your activities on the site. Session cookies are temporary files that are erased when you close all browsers. Persistent cookies remain after the session ends. My Health Career® employs session cookies to keep track of the current session. Persistent cookies are not employed by My Health Career® for any reason.
