Marc is the North Country’s first student to receive joint admission to St. Lawrence University and SUNY Upstate College of Medicine, under a new articulation agreement between the schools.   Marc first learned about opportunities in healthcare by attending a classroom presentation given by NAHEC staff and utilizing the My Health Career^® website to explore potential careers. 

Using My Health Career, Marc went on to register his interest in NAHEC programs. Marc attended a Job Skills Training workshop to learn basic information pertinent to future healthcare workers. Subsequently, Marc was selected for the Health Scholars program to complete an internship at Samaritan Medical Center and to receive career guidance and counseling through a joint effort of NAHEC and the Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization (FDRHPO). Marc credits these experiences with helping him finalize his career plans and find his way to the joint admission opportunity at St. Lawrence University and SUNY Upstate.
